Attorney John M. Howe Named
President-Elect Palm Beach County Bar Association
First African-American Named to Post
February 11, 2010 West Palm Beach, Florida—the Law Offices of John M. Howe, today announced founding attorney John M. Howe has been named President-Elect of the Palm Beach County Bar Association. He has been certified for the 2010-2011 Bar year. John M. Howe is the first African-American named to the President-Elect post since the Palm Beach County Bar Association’s founding in 1922.
This is a significant milestone in the Palm Beach County legal community’s history. John Howe states, “ It was 43 years before the Palm Beach County Bar was integrated in 1964, a full decade after Brown v. Board of Education.” He continued, “Since then, only three African-Americans have served on its board. It has taken another 46 years to realize our first African-American President-Elect.”
The Palm Beach County Bar Association is a nonprofit voluntary association. Its purpose is to maintain the honor and dignity of the legal profession by promoting improvements in the law and administration of justice.

Appointed Board of Directors - Historical Society of Palm Beach County
January 12, 2010 West Palm Beach, Florida-the Law Offices of John M. Howe, today announced founding attorney John M. Howe has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Historical Society of Palm Beach County. John states, "As a native of West Palm Beach, it was an honor to be asked to get involved with the Historical Society." He continued, "I feel it is important for all of our residents to be aware of the richness and diversity that is Palm Beach County."
The Historical Society of Palm Beach County is a non-profit organization whose mission is to collect, preserve and share the history of Palm Beach County. The Society maintains a large library on the history of Palm Beach County, Florida and the Caribbean. Through the Society's archives, which include nearly two million photographic images, maps, newspapers, journals, periodicals, architectural drawings, and research files, the Society maintains an active research facility and documents the people and events that have shaped Palm Beach County.
John M. Howe is the founding attorney of the law firm bearing his name. A native of West Palm Beach, Florida, he obtained a Juris Doctor from the University of Florida-Levin College of Law. He did so while concurrently earning a Masters in Business Administration degree also from the University of Florida. John M. Howe is a trial attorney with more than a decade of experience representing clients from all walks of life. He concentrates his practice in the areas of personal injury, commercial litigation, criminal and immigration law. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Palm Beach County Bar Association, the Legal Aid Society of the Palm Beaches and the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He recently completed a one-year term on the Board of Directors of the Florida Justice Association's Young Lawyers Division.
A Past President of the Palm Beach Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, John M. Howe is an active member of the National Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Virgil Hawkins Florida Chapter of the National Bar Association, the F.
